At the same time the northern towns of Puerto de la Cruz and La Orotava hold their slightly smaller, but no less exuberant carnivals and as soon as all these end the fun starts to spread southwards. On the 20th March carnival arrives almost on Las Madrigueras’ doorstep; almost, but not quite. The celebrations take place in the centre of Los Cristianos; close enough to be easily accessed from the hotel, but also far enough away so that the hotel remains an oasis of tranquillity.

It’s an ideal situation as anyone who wants to experience a taste of one of Tenerife’s most famous and popular traditions can dip in and out of the fun as they please.

Although there are events planned throughout the week, the pick of these are the carnival groups contest on 25 March and the election of the carnival queen on the 26 March. Anyone who hasn’t had the pleasure of seeing Tenerife’s carnival queens in full costume is in for an absolute treat as their lovingly designed costumes are wonderfully extravagant and imaginative affairs.

What really draws the crowds is the closing parade on 27 March when musical groups, dancers, floats and revellers galore in fancy dress take to the streets of Los Cristianos singing and dancing their way through the centre of town to the delight of onlookers.

When carnival is in full swing it’s one of the most magical times to visit Tenerife, especially with the knowledge that at the end of the night you can return to somewhere as luxurious and relaxing as the Hotel Las Madrigueras.

As well as keeping you informed of the latest developments at the hotel and telling you more about the exquisite delights that await our guests, we’ll also be providing information relating to the most exciting cultural events on our doorstep including local fiestas and concerts.

The blog will have the latest news and information on golfing tournaments from the beautifully landscaped Golf Las Américas adjoining the hotel. And for any guests able to tear themselves away from the Las Madrigueras’ enchanting grounds, we shall be sharing tips regarding our favourite restaurants, designer shops and the most stylish bars located within a short distance from the hotel.

Our intention is that this blog will compliment our esteemed guests’ stay in the Hotel Las Madrigueras and contribute to ensuring that the time spent in our company is even more memorable.
